How to get there from Liberia Airport
From Liberia International Airport (LIR), take Route 1 (Interamericana) south toward Bagaces. After about 25 minutes, you'll see signs for "Catarata Llanos de Cortés" on the right. A short gravel road leads to the community-run parking area.

What you'll actually see
A 12-meter-wide curtain of water dropping into a sandy natural pool you can swim in. Unlike most Costa Rica waterfalls, the pool is shallow at the edges (great for kids) and you can swim right up to the falling water — or walk behind it.
The hidden cascades only locals know
Most tourists turn around after the main falls. We take our guests 10 minutes further upstream to a hidden canyon with smaller cascades and private natural pools — usually empty, even in high season. This is the part of Llanos de Cortés you won't find on TripAdvisor.
